Experience Deer Park as our first settlers tell the story of how we came to be “The Birthplace of Texas.”
The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 6 PM. In addition to the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, families can enjoy other festivities, which will include:
- Tours of the historic Patrick’s Cabin
- Sip apple cider at the Simeon West Campfire. Campfire stories will include “Twas the Night Before Christmas”
- Decorate Christmas ornaments at the Santa’s Workshop Craft Station
- Eat cookies from Mrs. Clauses’ Bake Shoppe
- Visit the North Pole Post Office to mail a letter to Santa
- Pet animals at the Bethlehem Live Nativity
- Join carollers around the Christmas Tree as they sing all of your holiday favorites
- Shop at Kris Kringle’s Market Place
- Many other activities will surround our Christmas Tree Lighting that will take place at 6 PM.

Holiday Tours of the 1892 Bishop’s Palace

Step into the 1892 Bishop’s Palace for this special tour highlighting the National Historic Landmark’s holiday decorations! Featuring six Christmas trees, live greenery, Poinsettias, and more, you’ll learn about the house and Victorian holiday traditions. Complimentary wine and champagne will be served, and photography is encouraged.
ABOUT THE 1892 BISHOP’S PALACE
The Bishop’s Palace (a.k.a. Gresham House) is a contributing building in the East End Historic District, a National Historic Landmark. The house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places at the national level of significance in the area of architecture. Architectural historians list the Bishop’s Palace as one of the most significant Victorian residences in the country.

The annual holiday street festival, based on 19th-century Victorian London, rush off your bowlers and prepare your petticoats as Galveston Historical Foundation presents the 51st annual Dickens on The Strand.
Held the first weekend in December, the annual festival is a holiday tradition with great family programming, live entertainment, special events and more. Dickens on The Strand, based on 19th-century Victorian London, features parades, non-stop entertainment on four stages, new additions like Tiny Tim’s Play Land, Shopkeeper Skills Village, and roaming characters throughout the festival.
Costumed vendors peddle their wares from street stalls and rolling carts laden with holiday food and drink, Victorian-inspired crafts, clothing, jewelry, holiday decorations, and gift items.

This December, the magic of the holiday season comes alive at Woodchase Park as we invite kids of all ages to share their Christmas wishes by writing letters to Santa.
During our programming hours, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, we’ll have everything you need – from letters and envelopes to stamps and writing utensils – to craft your heartfelt messages to the jolly man in red.
Once your letters are complete, place them in our special mailbox. Rest assured, your letters will be delivered to the North Pole in time for Christmas.

City Place Annual Tree Lighting Celebration

A busy season of holiday programming kicks off at north Houston’s City Place with the annual tree lighting celebration, which culminates in a countdown to illuminate the shimmering – and floating – 35-foot Christmas landmark rising from City Place Park’s main pond
The evening also marks the unveiling of City Place’s signature, Giant Gingerbread Village, where a gumdrop, lollipop and candy-cane-lined path – guarded by two giant gingerbread men – leads to a raised clearing featuring cookie trees, a 16-foot-high gingerbread house and 12-foot windmill.
Santa will make an appearance at the festivities, which also include a variety of family-friendly activations such as face painters, balloon twisters, a letters to Santa station, and a kid’s ornament craft area sponsored by Harmony Schools. To add to the holiday magic, a play area with real snow will be featured in the Upper Plaza, along with a hot chocolate bar and a DJ who will help spread holiday cheer with festive remixes.

In celebration of Market Street’s 20th year of serving the community, the shopping, dining, and entertainment destination is inviting its neighbors to a festive and fun holiday party.
The lighting of the Christmas tree will officially kick off the holiday season and start Market Street’s three-minute light show, a dazzling display of flashing, multi-colored lights synchronized to holiday songs.
