About Space Center Houston
Space Center Houston is a nonprofit science and space exploration learning center with extensive educational programs. Its mission is to inspire all generations through the wonders of space exploration. The center draws more than one million visitors annually and was named “the Best Museum in Texas” by USA Today. Space Center Houston is a Smithsonian Affiliate, the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Certified Autism Center. More than 250,000 teachers and students from around the world visit the center annually to experience our educational space museum with more than 400 things to see and do.

Inspire students all year long through the wonders of space exploration and STEM learning. All programs meet TEKS guidelines and national science standards.
Our programs focus on STEM to help adults and children think critically, learn about the past, present and future of America’s space flight program and build a greater understanding of the world. The children we teach and inspire today could be among the first humans to walk on Mars.
Programs offered:
- Explorer Camps- Space Center Houston offers a variety of age-appropriate, educational camp experiences. Campers participate in innovative robotics challenges, take part in space-themed interactive experiences and explore all that Space Center Houston has to offer!
- Overnight Experiences- Grab your camping gear and head to the backyard because the night sky is calling us to camp out. Explore science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on learning and challenging activities designed to build STEM skills.
- Space Center U- Ever dreamed of being an astronaut? Have you wondered what it takes to travel and live on Mars? Do you want to engineer your own robotic rover and launch a rocket? Come behind the scenes with Space Center U, the ultimate educational experience, and get a taste of space exploration!
- Outreach- With support from generous donors and members, Space Center Houston is committed to its nonprofit mission of expanding access to and participation in authentic STEM learning experiences for learners of all ages. We offer a variety of outreach programs to educators, students and the home-schooling community that are designed to encourage critical thinking, problem solving and innovation. These unique initiatives are designed to fuel the STEM Pathway and ignite interest in future STEM careers. Programs like Girls STEM Pathway, Exploration Academy, and Title 1 School Visits are key components of our philanthropic mission that enable us to provide meaningful service to our community and beyond.
- Field Trips- Inspire your students with an experience they will never forget. With more than 400 things to see and do, students can learn while experiencing real science, math and technology, including the interactive Mission Mars exhibit, multiple flown spacecraft, a real Moon rock your students can touch, live presentations and so much more!
- Stars & STEM- Stars & STEM is designed for students in kindergarten through 12th grade who want to learn outside the classroom while experiencing the wonders of space exploration. We provide engaging STEM activities developed to match each grade level’s standards so students are challenged, inspired and eager to explore.
- Space Exploration Educators Conference- Dedicated to empowering educators with a multitude of cross-curriculum ideas and ready-to-implement classroom activities, Space Exploration Educators Conference (SEEC) provides educators with the latest teaching tools and interprets what’s happening now in science and human space exploration. Space Center Houston offers educators of all disciplines from formal and informal education a three-day authentic learning experience based in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
- Programs For Boy Scouts Of America- Space Center Houston engages Scouts in an interactive and hands-on learning environment. Participants will have an enriched experience in our overnights that teaches Scouts about the science, technology, engineering and mathematics involved with space exploration.
- Programs For Girl Scouts- Space Center Houston engages Scouts in an interactive and hands-on learning environment. Scouts will have an enriched experience in our overnights that teaches young girls about the science, technology, engineering and mathematics involved with space exploration.
- Programs For American Heritage Girls- Space Center Houston engages American Heritage Girls in an interactive and hands-on learning environment. American Heritage Girls will have an enriched experience in our overnights that teaches girls about the science, technology, engineering and mathematics involved with space exploration.
Field Trips
Available field trip enhancements include one-of-a-kind experiences like touring astronaut training facilities, exploring the galaxy in our portable planetarium, Neutral Buoyancy Lab tours and STEM classroom experiences featuring robotics, rocket design and virtual reality.
