The George Ranch Historical Park opened in 1988 as an educational partnership between The George Foundation and the Fort Bend History Association. The Park features four historic home sites: the 1830s Jones Stock Farm, 1860s Ryon Prairie Home, 1890s Davis Victorian Mansion and 1930s George Ranch Home and Cattle Yard.
Explore more than 100 years of Texas history with costumed interpreters, historic home tours, historic meals, cattle round-ups, hands-on activities, demonstrations and more!

Structured Classes and Tours For Schools at George Ranch Historical Park
What to expect when you visit the George Ranch Historical Park: For any trip you plan here at the Ranch, please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled class time and allow 90 minutes for your classes to complete a class.
Encourage children to dress comfortably for the outdoors, wear closed-toed shoes and plan for plenty of walking. The loop around the Park is just over one mile. Please ask about handicap or special needs transportation if applicable. To help everyone stay hydrated, bottled water is allowed into the Park. We also have picnic tables available for lunch.
Homeschooling families are invited to the Ranch to enjoy an exclusive TEKS-aligned class, extra activity and self-paced tours on select Thursdays!

Registration will begin 30 days prior to events.
- Advance purchase required. Tickets are limited so please register early to reserve your spot.
- Students are required to have an adult attending with them.
- As a reminder, general admission is not available during field trips so coupons, groupons, memberships, and guest passes will not be accepted.
Are you a Fort Bend County resident? Student admission is FREE for these classes (thanks to a generous donor!) To receive free student admission, you must enter a valid Fort Bend County address when booking and show a valid Texas ID with County address at the gate.
George Ranch Frontier Days Festival
The Fort Bend History Association is proud to present the George Ranch Frontier Days festival at the George Ranch Historical Park. Bring the whole family to discover more than 150 years of Texas history! Enjoy hands-on activities, battle re-enactments, live entertainment, first-person costumed interpreters, historic home tours, games, cowboys, vintage vehicles, food, craft vendors and more. George Ranch Frontier Days is our biggest living history event of the year — you don’t want to miss it!

Pumpkin Roundup
October and November- Round up your posse to experience a one-of-a-kind autumn display created with over 20 types of pumpkins, gourds, plants and fall flowers. Using wagons, carriages and more, Designer Lucas Chavez has built a visual wonder that surrounds the George Ranch House, spilling throughout the yard and gardens. Snap gourd-ous pumpkin pictures and kick off fall Saturdays with family and friends at The George Ranch Historical Park. It’s pumpkin, spice and everything nice!

Traditional Black Smithing Skills I
Geared for beginners with little or no metal-working experience, this skills-oriented, semi-private blacksmithing class will teach students about fire, shop safety, tools, equipment and basic forging skills, including drawing out, twisting, forge welding, punching and scroll work. Students will finish a few small items that they will be able to take home.
Participants must wear cotton or wool clothing (no synthetic materials) and closed-toe shoes. Students also must bring their own eye and ear protection. Costs of materials are included in the cost of class. All blacksmithing classes are a single 7-hour class with a lunch break. You are welcome to bring your lunch or come and go as you please within your 7-hour class period.
Proceeds will go towards The George Ranch Historical Park’s mission is to deliver a compelling educational experience to students and the community through the history, legacy and land of a pioneer Texas family.
Traditional Blacksmithing Skills II
This 7-hour continuation semi-private course will help participants progress further in blacksmithing skills and practice. Topics include forge use and care, heat treating, annealing, quenching, normalization and tempering. Students will make a project to take home. Students must wear cotton or wool clothing (no synthetic materials) and closed-toe shoes. Costs of materials are included in the cost of class. This class is open only to participants who have attended the Traditional Blacksmithing Skils I class or have previous forging experience.
